Peer has been part of the FriEnt team since September 2026, where he focuses in particular on peace and security, as well as peace and development. Peer has been with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) since 2016 and currently works there as a programme officer for peace and security in the Division for International Cooperation, Global and European Policy. Prior to this, he managed the country projects for Northern Europe and the United Kingdom in Germany, as well as the work of the European Office in Brussels. From 2017 to 2018, he was based in Lebanon with the FES, and from 2019 to 2022 he led projects in the Baltic states. From 2022 to 2026 Peer served as a social affairs officer at the German Embassy in Belgrade, seconded by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, with responsibility for Serbia and Montenegro. Prior to this, he worked on the Northern Europe project at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP). Peer studied Modern and Contemporary History, Political Science and Northern European Studies at Humboldt University of Berlin and Uppsala University. He has many years of regional expertise in Central and Eastern Europe and the Baltic Sea region, as well as experience in analysing developments in foreign, security and socio-political policy.
