Mona Hein

Seconded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Collaboration and Development (BMZ)

As a seconded staff member from the BMZ, Mona has been part of the FriEnt team since June 2026, where she works in particular on feminist peacebuilding. Since 2022, she has been working at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), advising the BMZ at the intersection of religion, peace, and security. In her work, she combines different disciplinary perspectives on peacebuilding.
Prior to this, she participated in the Mercator Fellowship on International Affairs, with a focus on religion- and culture-sensitive approaches to peace work. Mona studied International Social Work as well as Religious and Cultural Studies. As a trained mediator, she brings several years of experience in conflict transformation in non-governmental and international organizations. Her work focuses in particular on the religious and cultural dimensions of dialogue and peace processes, as well as on how different voices and experiences can be taken into account. She has worked and conducted research in Indonesia, Lebanon, and Iraq, among other countries.
