Covid-19

The Covid-19 pandemic poses enormous challenges for local and international actors working for peaceful and inclusive societies and is hitting people in countries affected by violence and crises particularly hard. However, while the health and economic consequences of the pandemic continue to receive a great deal of attention, the social and political effects are much less in focus.

All studies and observations clearly show that the Covid-19 pandemic is associated with major risks for peace and development processes and gives cause for concern: there are setbacks and negative developments as well as clear signs of political instrumentalization of the pandemic, which jeopardizes progress already made and poses additional challenges for the work of local actors.
