In remembrance of Dr Hibo Yassin Haji Yussuf

Honouring the life and legacy of a remarkable peacebuilder

FriEnt and CSPPS pay tribute to the life of Dr Hibo Yassin Haji Yussuf – an extraordinary peacebuilder, advocate, and cherished member of our community. Sadly, she passed away in June 2025 at the age of 57.

Known for her honesty, courage, and unwavering commitment to justice and gender equality, Hibo Yassin inspired countless people throughout her life. Her sudden loss left a profound void among colleagues, friends, and partners worldwide. Yet, her legacy continues to guide and inspire the peacebuilding community. The video below, in which Hibo Yassin speaks about her work, was recorded when she was one of our esteemed speakers at the FriEnt Peacebuilding Forum 2024. You can find the tribute written by the Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (CSPPS) here.
