Swisspeace Weiterbildungsprogramme starten ab September

Swisspeace hat die Weiterbildungsprogramme (CAS, DAS, MAS) neu konzipiert und bietet diese im neuen Format ab Herbst in Zusammenarbeit mit der Universität Basel an.

Zu den neu konzipierten Kursangeboten zählen folgende:

  • Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) Religion, Peace and Conflict: Der Kurs befasst sich mit der Rolle von Religion in Frieden und Konflikt, zwischen Religion und Staat, Radikalisierungstendenzen und verschiedenen Fallstudien.
  • Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) Peacebuilding Essentials: Das Angebot richtet sich an PraktikerInnen und WissenschaftlerInnen, die daran interessiert sind, ihre eigenen Erfahrungen mit aktuellen konzeptionellen Erkenntnissen und praktischem Wissen zur Friedensförderung zu verbinden.
  • Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS) Peace and Conflict: Der Fokus liegt auf dem Verständnis von Ursachen gewaltsamer Konflikte, dem Lernen aus Forschung und Praxis sowie der Aneignung von Fähigkeiten, um zum Frieden beizutragen.
  • Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) Peace and Conflict: Das Masterprogramm analysiert, wie Friedensförderung gewaltsame Konflikte transformieren kann, von Krieg betroffene Gesellschaften wiederaufbaut und das Wiederaufleben von Gewalt verhindert.

“A conflict is not forgotten, because the headlines move on”

At FriEnt’s latest Forgotten Conflicts series discussion, held on 26 August in Berlin, experts and practitioners from Nigeria and Germany explored the drivers and consequences of violence in the country’s Northwest and Middle Belt. The discussion challenged narratives that portray the violence primarily as a religious conflict and highlighted the need to address climate stress, land scarcity, governance gaps and the erosion of livelihoods, while strengthening locally rooted approaches to peacebuilding.

The Katholikentag in Würzburg has shown that peace, security and development go hand in hand. In this interview, Dorothee Klüppel, a member of FriEnt’s Steering Committee and Head of the Africa/Middle East Department at Misereor, explains why security is more than just military strength, why justice, democracy and international cooperation are key prerequisites for sustainable peace and what special role church actors play in this – particularly in times of rearmament and geopolitical tensions.
